How to Change the Oil in Your Car
The oil in your car has a point at which it will start losing its lubrication and will carbonize. When this happens, your motor will get deteriorated pieces of carbon which will shorten the life of your engine. If you change your oil before the time the manufacturer requires, you will avoid this carbonizing point, and your engine will remain clean.
Once you fill the engine with new oil it will begin to run smoothly. When you don't change your oil on time, the engine will become clogged and friction will increase. This friction leads to an increase of excess heat, and the engine will wear out much faster than it would if you changed your oil on time. If you can't remember the last time you changed your oil, look at the dipstick.
If the dipstick is smooth and lubricated, this means the oil is good. However, if there is little oil on the dipstick, of if it seems to be dry, this means you need to change the oil as soon as possible. Each car has its own type of oil, and oil capacity. You will want to check your car manual to make sure you use the right type.
You want to check the oil on a regular basis, at least once a month. If you drive many miles frequently, you should check it even more often. Driving with a low amount of oil in your car can cause serious damage to the engine. Your car should have a gauge which will inform you if your engine pressure drops. If you notice leakage under your car, this is also a sign you may need to get the oil changed.
There are two types of oil, synthetic oil and regular mineral oil. Synthetic oil can handle a much higher temperature than regular mineral oil. Synthetic oil can also work longer and maintain its lubrication attributes. It doesn't become thicker in temperatures which are below zero.
However, synthetic oil is more prone to leaks than regular mineral oil. Despite this, as long as you change the mineral oil on a regular basis your engine will remain strong and healthy. Always look at the oil to determine its condition. If it&39;s black, this means it is losing its lubrication and needs to be changed. Always use the correct engine oil so that your car runs properly.
